Jim Teicher, Founder CyberSmart Africa 

A telecom and digital publishing changemaker, veteran financial technology and elearning entrepreneur, Jim's innovations have sparked changes in the delivery of consumer information, financial services, and education. Founding CyberSmart Africa in 2008, he previously  co-founded the elearning company CyberSmart Education. Jim also directs The CyberSmart Learning Institute, producer of the award-winning feature film “Tall as the Baobab Tree” – inspiring millions of girls in sub-Saharan Africa to stay in school. Prior he was founder and CEO of Stockalert, Inc.,  a financial information company and served as CEO of Smart Tone, Inc., an innovator in the field of internet security. A TEDx presenter and popular speaker at industry conferences Jim completed all of his course work towards a doctorate in Education from Cornell University and holds a Master's Degree in Education from Cornell and Master's Degree in Communication from Ithaca College.

Mala Bawer, CyberSmart Education USA 

Pioneering the development  of the CyberSmart Student Curriculum & CyberSmart Online Professional Training,

Mala introduced the very first-of-its kind standards-based online safety and digital literacy program. Used by millions of students globally, its ground-breaking research-based strategy of positive empowerment is now modeled internationally. Most recently Mala headed CyberSmart’s team that conceived, piloted and directed the development of a nation-wide ground-breaking multimedia learning program in the MENA region. 

Previously, Mala co-founded the award winning interactive financial information service, Stockalert, Inc., and was part of the senior management teams that launched America’s first consumer online service and North America’s first networked interactive public video kiosk service. Mala received her MBA degree from the Darden Graduate School at the University of Virginia and her BA degree from the University of Michigan.

Linda English, Advisor

 

A former Sector Leader and lead Human Development Specialist for the African region in the World Bank, based in Dakar, Senegal. An economist by training, Linda has overseen and evaluated numerous initiatives in both Africa and The Middle East that focus on improving the quality and sustainability of education, including the financing of innovative approaches to improve accountability.

Matt Berg, Advisor

Named to Time Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in the World, Matt is now  CEO of Ona, making data visible to affect change. Prior he led a social enterprise initiative at Columbia University's Earth Institute where he served as ICT Director for the Millennium Villages Project.

Momar Dieng, Phd., Advisor

  

Dr. Dieng is the Chief Strategy and Partnerships Officer of the AIMS Global Network and an adjunct factulty at the Harvard Kennedy School. Prior, he was Senior Technical and Policy Advisor to Senegal’s Minister of Education, where he led the implementation of the education policy reform agenda.

 Jules Aw, Pedigogical Advisor, Senegal 

Jules was an English teacher for the Senegalese Minister of Education for over 36 year and now  specializes in ICT training, multimedia design and a trainer for EFL. 

Sarah Nehrling, Orgnaizational Learning Advisor

Sarah oversaw the initial pilot of CyberSmart Africa, and after working West Africa for 10 years, returned to the US to complete a Masters in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.  She now continues to serve the learning needs of the international development community through trainings, strategic facilitation, experiential workshops, and individual and team coaching.

Molly Melching, Advisor

Founder and Creative Director of the Tostan Community Empowerment Program, Molly is internationally recognnized  for her groundbreaking educational programs that have led communities to affect life transforming changes.

Pape Momar Sow, Advisor

Former Education Team Leader at USAID/Senegal, Pape currently serves as consult to the Agency. Prior, he held key positions at every level within the Senegalese Ministry of Education.

Helen Abadzi, PhD, , Advisor

Formerly an education specialist with The World Bank — Education for All (EFA) Fast Track Initiative, and an advisor to USAID, Dr. Abadzi is one of the most recognized and highly respected experts on the subject of improving learning outcomes in developing nations.
